The hypermodern subject defends himself against the real, against the unforeseen, with the realism of the image.

Carmen Cuñat defines the contemporary subject as the distracted man[1], who forgets or défends himself against the real with the hyperrealism of images. The psychoanalyst of the 21st century opposes the scientific concept of the cause according to which we would all be cut with the same genetic scissors, by jostling this defense so as to allow access to the real determinants which thus offers a margin to freedom of choice.
