Interview by Deborah Gutermann- Jacquet
How does the writer of the 21st century do with this epoch? The real (s)he is dealing with is explosive. The "constant noise", the "continual monstration" to which events are subjected renders thier telling impossible while simultaneously authorizing all interpretations. The reign of contradictory opinions makes this century tend towards a form of "universal negationism" of information.
In these new conditions, todays writer is more than ever obliged to invent. Marc Weitzmann compares them to terrorists : they "conspire" to suceed at "either a bomb or a book".
